All About Me...

I am a graphic design enthusiast with a passion for creativity! I double majored at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Art and Graphic Design while honing my skills through various online and in-person classes. My passion drives me to continuously learn and explore new techniques. Constantly inspired by the world around me, I'm on a journey to turn ideas into visual masterpieces!

Design Philosophy

My design philosophy is something between the concept of "form follows function" and the idea that anything made should be aesthetically pleasing or useful.

I think that designs should fulfill their function foremost, however, I do not think there is a point to making any design if it is not aesthetically pleasing to the intended target audience. The function of the piece should be the most important part, with any communicative aspect being direct and clear. However, the visual aesthetics of the piece should not be neglected or diminished by its functionality.

My use of angled and unusually placed typography and use of text in several sections with varying positions or angles to move the viewer’s eye around a design is inspired by the new typography movement. Another influence visible in my work is Bauhaus through my use of bright colors and solid shape in my compositions. Additionally, my designs also tend towards asymmetrical balance, which both Bauhaus and the Modernist Architects movement utilize. I also continually experiment with leaning into different eras of graphic design to incorporate into my current project to help emphasize that specific project’s goals and aesthetics. I tend towards the more illustrative in my work, and believe I am rather skilled in the area. Using clear communication within the design brief for a given project is extremely helpful to streamlining my design process, as it aids me in trying to create a finished product with a clear personality that suits the client’s needs. I use a large amount of research for projects as well as many iterations of ideas and concepts within the early stages of the project. I try to find the most compelling compositions with the most effective hierarchy to engage the viewer. I utilize these iterations to make sure that the final product is the best version it can be through thorough exploration and dedication to the work.

My goal as a designer is to clearly communicate through aesthetic and effective designs, making viewers engage with the content by utilizing graphic design and typographic history as my inspiration for unique and interesting solutions. The final product of my design process will always prioritize the client’s preferences and goals.  I want my designs to entertain and improve the lives of people, whether with a good product, a solution, or just information that may create some happiness.

Education

2021-2025

Mount Vernon Nazarene University

2017-2021

Mount Vernon Public High School

While attending Mount Vernon Nazarene University I obtained two degrees simultaneously in both Art and Graphic design. In earning these degrees I have gained great knowledge in Adobe Illustrator, In Design, Photoshop, and more. I have taken ideas and turned them into reality through the projects I have worked on during this time.

I began my education in Art and Graphic Design in specialty classes through Mount Vernon High School. This is where I started to learn how to develop my skills and talent in ways I hadn't before.
